Training Modules "The Future of Society"
In Spring 2025, GDCOO will be offering a series of three thematic modules on "International Relations for Non-Specialists" (both in English and French) and "The Future of Society". Designed in the form of inter-active workshops, the GDCOO training modules are based on a case-study approach, identifying drivers and trends of change, and conceiving distinct future scenarios.
The following three training modules offered as part of "The Future of Society" are given as examples :
Strategic Foresight and Scenario Building
Dr. Goran Jovanovic
This module focuses on methodology of strategic foresight and scenario-building, continuity and disruption of trends and plausible future worlds. The module examines how to use strategic thinking, decision making, and planning under conditions of uncertainty. Course participants will engage in scenario-building exercises on cases of the post-COVID-19 futures. Read more

The Future of Europe
Dr. Esperanza Duran
This module analyses the evolution of the EU institutions and governance and their role in global politics. The module analyses EU responses to the 2008 financial collapse, the migration crisis, the rise of populism, the origin and effects of the Brexit. Course participants will discuss the EU response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on the future of the EU integration process. Read more

The Future of Central Asia
Dr. Muktar Djumaliev
This module assesses the current and future areas of cooperation between the European Union and Central Asian countries with emphasis on sustainable, green and equitable economic development. The course participants will discuss how the COVID-19 health crisis may shape future relations between the EU and Central Asian states. Read more
